Bernhard Langer Can Win a Green Jacket!

Bernhard Langer became a center of attention during Saturday's thrid round in Augusta, Georgia. Many fans wonder if Langer can steal the green jacket in Masters. It is highly possible. According to Langer, better physical shape comes with years of practice.

Bernhard is in the 3rd and only two shots back going into final round at Masters! He chases down a 22 years-old Jordan Spieth and 26 years-old RoryMcllroy. After shooting a two-under 70 in the third round, the 58-year-old Langer sits at one-under 215, tied for third and within two strokes of leader Jordan Spieth. According to a new equipment rule, players are not longer allowed to anchor a club to their body while hitting the golf ball. Instead of mopping, Langer has been merely extending his hands away from the chest. Pressing the end of the club into the stomach or chest, or securing their hand or forearm to their body to help give a putt a smoother stroke (a belly putter) has become popular technique recently. Langer has found a way around a rule.

According to the USGSA, "A player may still use any conforming belly (mid-length) or long putter. Rule 14-1b addresses only the method of stroke, prohibiting a player from anchoring the club directly or by use of an anchor point while making a stroke." While it still looks like Langer is anchoring, but he made it clear that he is actually not using a belly putter. He is anchoring the thumb to his chest to set the putt up, but then he pulls the thumb away, not even if it's touching his shirt. You can call it controversial, but it doesn't break any rules. Officials say that what Langer is doing satisfies the criteria.

Solid putting was the key to Langer topping the score of Jason Day. Langer made six birdies Saturday, including three in a row of Nos. 14-16. His history in August National spans 33 years and 133 competitive rounds. He knows this course like the back of his hand. Can he become the one of the over the 50s who will win the Masters? He believes, he can.
