Is your artificial grass durable enough to resist extreme heat and sunlight?

This is a tough question. In general, extremely hot weather and sunlight should not burn the turf if not exceed 190 F: we all know that certain areas can be as hot as 120 F during the hot summer months, when the air temperature gets to the 120 F range, the ground temperature will reach 180-190 degrees which can be dangerously close to the point of melting artificial grass. You might have seen the story that the extreme heat even melted garbage cans in Arizona couple of years ago. Therefore, we have to answer your question in a specific term of temperatures instead of using general terms of “extremely heat” or “hot sunlight”.

Typically, at 190 F or so, artificial grass will start to “disforming” by getting extremely soft and curling and staying that way, but not necessarily getting melted. At 200-220 F, the artificial grass will start getting melted or burned. To help artificial grass holding up better in extremely hot climate, you can use the Tcool infills along with your artificial grass installation, here is the link for the Tcool infills: https://www.globalsynturf.com/tcool-infill
